Hi everyone! Again, I’m sorry for the delay in writing. My laptop keeps giving me headaches. I’ll keep this one as short as I can because of it and also because I know the excitement over Convention is already dwindling in our fast moving doll world.
Friday’s main event was the “Picnic in the Enchanted Forest” lunch, which had Little Red Riding Hood as theme. Again, it’s not the first time we see this particular children’s tale done by IT. It had already been interpreted brilliantly in the NU Fantasy line, through Wild Wolf Kumi and Red Riding Hood Yuri.
I’m keeping to my non-comparison rule though, since it’s a different line than the two lines we saw at the event, which were Poppy Parker and Fashion Royalty. On to the first doll of the two.
This particular Poppy didn’t impress me, but her outfit did. Now, I’m sure I have seen this exact outfit and coat before, but I can’t remember where. I’ll look for the image reference again and update the post once I find it. The closest reference I found for her coat was Dolce & Gabbana, while I was collecting images for my Convention dreams. Only, this one’s made of fur.
Her dress and shirt combo is vaguely D&G-ish, but I’m quite sure it isn’t there that I saw it. Gah, this is frustrating! Here is a picture of her sans coat.
I love her dress and shirt. The boots are a nice touch too. I didn’t care much for her coat or detachable hood. Her bag is lovely, but close enough to RRH Yuri to make my fingers itch for a comparison. I’ll leave you with her close up and move on to the next doll.
I think this Eugie is a gorgeous doll. I love her screening and make up palette. I just wish she had long hair and a less severe hairdo. She would have come home, but, like Rainbow Connection Poppy, she was supplanted by one of the most beautiful dolls of the year IMHO. I’ll get to her soon…
Her dress is beautiful, but we’ve seen it before in older IT dolls. I love her cloak and I wish to get it at some point. I have a huge Historic/Fantasy outfit collection – that I don’t display that often – in which it would fit to perfection. Her boots are nice. All in all there are many boots in this Collection. I wonder if this is due to the general assumption that boots have a more “old times” feel. A Fairytale themed event could have been the perfect excuse for exquisitely elaborated shoes with elongated tips, or flat ankle boots, or even curved tip flats. Something like this, but with a more modern design.
Her earrings are just like the ones from Nu Fantasy Beast from 2013. I’ll close Eugie’s review with the close up photo, because it’s the one in which we get the best view of her earrings.
All in all, I liked Friday Lunch dolls much more than the Welcome Gala and cocktail ones, especially Eugie, but they didn’t impress me that much. On the next post I’ll cover the W Club Luncheon, and then I’ll finish this series with the Final Gala. Both posts will surely be lengthier, since I feel there’s much more to talk about there. As always, I hope you liked this review, short as it is.
